Hidalgo Center for Exceptional Small People

It's been a busy few days at the Hidalgo Center for Exceptional Small People. My buddy Brick was up from San Fran visiting his parents near Portland and dropped in for a visit. He and his lovely wife are also expecting a little monkey in the near future and I did my best to share the vast storehouse of knowledge I've accumulated in my long career as a parent. (e.g. "Don't tip them upside down just after they've eaten, 'cause they tend to get drippy.")

The following day we were graced by a visit from Aunt Victoria who has taken a shine to the kid. She also knitted a beautiful, cable-patterned wool blanket for Sylvia. She dried the blanket with lavender and it exudes a wonderful scent. (Please scratch circle #58 in your scent pack for the complete smell-o-vision experience).

'S' modeling her new blanket.

The sisters discuss the finer points of Sylvia's noggin.

Lest you all think that this kid has been all fun and games here's a couple pics from the keepin' it real collection. The first shows one day's diapers and wipes. We're trying the wash-your-own route. I'm not sure why I'm smiling. Probably sleep deprivation psychosis. The latter is one of the many of Sylvia's "urps." Dad is clearly too slow.

But at the end of the day what's a few urps and diapers.

  1. Miguel,

I have to say I am astounded at your ability to actually keep a blog updated in the days and weeks after Sylvia's birth. I have been having trouble putting my shirts on outside out and our baby is almost 3 months.

    Congratulations! Beautiful baby; funny blog.

  2. Alex,
Incredible blast from the past! Great to hear from you and congrats on your own new baby (though three months seems pretty old right now). Please look us up if you're ever in the Pacific NW.
