Baby Diving Time

One of the many upsides of a grandparent visit is access to someone else's camera and eye. When your hands are too busy or full to snap a photo, they are prepared to take up the slack. This is lucky for me, because extra hands are always welcome, and lucky for the dinner table because now there are pictures of Sylvia and her parents swimming to share.

Ok. This last picture requires some explanation. I am, in fact, not drowning my kid. Instead, we are teaching Sylvia how to connect being submerged with closing one's eyes and inhaling. Taking advantage of the "Diving Reflex" we blow into Sylvia's face and she inhales. Then we dive her under. With time she will learn to inhale and hold her breath on her own, so I am told.

Sylvia seems to enjoy the diving and really likes the water, even if she gets a little chilly at time (her tiny blue wetsuit help with that).
