The only downside to Aurelia's completion of her two weeks at work is that Sylvia's granny had to head back to the Four Corners Region. Just before saying goodbye the two of them sat down for some quality book time.

Sylvia will miss her granny and was only consoled by the fact that nana Linda is heading out West in mid-August for a visit.
The remainder of the week lacked the kind of excitement that draws millions of unique hits to one's blog. We were not visited by presidents, consulted by Popes, or drafted to the Premier League. However we did eat well, enjoyed the fresh Oregon summer, and managed to catch a nap here and there.

Aurelia observed this week that many of the children's books we own have plots that revolve around going to bed. The fact that the primary mission of a parent at this stage in a child's life is to ensure that they eat (something they are mostly good at) and sleep (something they are decidedly bad at) would suggest that these books are unsubtle propaganda to convince your squirming progeny that sleeping is the coolest thing ever. Sylvia who likes to nibble on her books is not falling for any of it.
(But, like her father, Sylvia has an unusual fascinationwith the electronics circulars that come in the Sunday paper).
The week was topped off with Sylvia showing that all that tummy time can pay off. She now has the ability to lift her head for more than a few seconds and spends her time scanning the floor for the best items to jam into her mouth and drool on.
Warning!
