As the weather and our skills at getting out the door improve, we've begun to make a few more ambitious forays out into the world.
The Portland Riverbank Esplanade, a 1.5 mile long path that runs along the east bank of the Willamette River, is one of the few places that you can get near the water in the center city. The path, sometimes on land and sometimes made with floating sections, runs from the Hawthorn Bridge to the South to the Steel bridge (seen behind us in the image below) to the North. At both bridges you can cross the river and connect with the
Gov. Tom Mcall Waterfront Park.

Crossing the steel bridge you find evidence that not all of Portland's citizens appreciate the current social and political situation.

With neither bikes nor kalishnikovs we were forced to pay $2.50 for lemonade. It was hot and the lemonade was good..... but$2.50?
The day's heat meant we had a slightly ripe baby on our hands. This situation was dealt with by daddy giving Sylvia a much needed bath. I was a bit out of practice but with a bit of remedial coaching managed to keep Sylvia entertained.
