Did I mention ducks?

It's six hours by plane from Portland to New Orleans, including the stop in Texas. We all managed the flight well, though the noodle took the time change harder than the rest of us. Sleeping in was the natural response.

After waking up and consuming a bit of coffee, we explored our neighborhood. The house we stayed in, a fine two bedroom shotgun, was close to both a large open area between two streets (that I believe is called "common ground") and City Park. Sylvia discovered the joy of an improvised swing as we made our way northwestish along Orleans St.

More shotgun houses along the way.

City Park offers playgrounds (well used by the Noodle), ponds, ducks, geese, a sculpture park and museum, and benches for people of all heights.

the year we make contact

Happy New Year!

For those of us who didn't spend their childhoods reading Arthur C. Clark, this is the year we make contact. Until that happens though, we must be content with events of the earthly sphere. These include our trip to New Orleans (blog posts to follow soon) and the development of pretend play behavior (web search it) in the noodle. Today we played "Feed the dolly."

I must admit that I really enjoyed playing the role of "dolly". The little bit of sass (saying "no" to the hot dog) at the end was irresistible. A bit of parental pay back.
