78 Degrees and Sunny

Chris, Aurelia's bro, winged into town this last weekend (April 12-13) to participate in the 79th annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Conference Association where he and a colleague presented on some work they did in New Orleans (where he lives) last year. Chris works for Tulane coordinating student volunteers and community organizations so that the former gain valuable real-world experience and the latter obtain work help they otherwise could not afford. The specific topic of his presentation related to a neighborhood survey undertaken by Tulane Students for a New Orleans aid organization. The door to door canvassing was done by the students freeing up organization funds.

After his Saturday presentation, Chris, Aurelia, me, and some of our friends retired to Navarre on 28th street for some tasty brunch morsels.

Saturday was one of those days in Portland where the clouds part and the day is warm and sunny. False spring to some but appreciated by all. The three of us took advantage of the fine weather and headed to Washington Park to walk the paths and sit in the daisies. Beautiful.

Bill Clinton visits Aurelia!

OK. So he was also visiting all the rest of OHSU's employees but it got your attention.

Bill was in town March 31st stumping for Hillary and sauntered his way up to "Pill Hill"l to give a speech in front of a packed crowd at the OHSU library. Bill spoke for about an 3/4 of an hour about how sustainable energy and health care will be the two major economic opportunities of the "next generation." And, of course, how Hillary was the one to lead us towards these opportunities.

Here's where Aurelia comes in. Instead of waiting in the rain with the rest of the sheep for the main event she showed her executive spirit and scored a front row seat to the overflow area. So Bill, knowing that there were more flesh to be pressed made his way to the overflow area and addressed the large crowd there. (All images copyright DinnertablePDX 2008)

The Presidential Hand

So close!

I told you. Democrats always wear blue ties.
